Whether you are trying to lose weight without giving up baking, trying to live a healthier lifestyle or both, it’s always great to know that there are a bunch of other things we can use in our baking (including raw “baking” too!). This article will also touch upon how to substitute dairy, refined sugars and eggs in your creations as well. Although this may seem like it’s geared towards vegans, it is also for every one. Kitchen creations don’t have to suffer in taste just because they don’t include dairy milk, white sugar, eggs, butter and white flour.
These lists will not only be suitable for baking, but raw desserts, breakfasts (pancakes, latkes, oatmeal…), breads, chocolates, smoothies…the list goes on and on…
Anyway, let’s get to it and start with some substitutions for baking without butter.

Chia seeds is a GREAT replacement for eggs.
Just add 1 TBSP of Chia Seeds and 3 TBSP of water, let it marinade for a couple minutes and the consistency will just be like an egg =)
Great suggestion Diana! You’re right – chia seeds are amazing in how they become gelatinous when soaked for a few minutes in a liquid. i’ll add it to the list and credit you

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I loved baked sweets, but gave them up partially because they were rich in butter. Maybe now I can have a few without guilt.
